This week I’m in Italy and on the lookout for Italian pattern inspiration. Of course, there’s wine and food a-plenty (can’t think on an empty stomach!) but as always, I’ll be on the hunt for things that catch my eye.
I am visiting the Abruzzo region, famous for Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine and DeCecco pasta. I am just minutes away from the Majella National Park and the Passo Lanciano ski resort and only half an hour from the nearest beach. This is the region where ‘The American’ was filmed and I’m staying in the village which features in ‘Lords of London‘.
I’m loving all the terracotta roof tiles and stone buildings and I’ve noticed a fabulous pimped up Ape. By the way, an Ape (pronounced A-pay) is not a large monkey like creature, but a sort of cross between a Vespa style scooter and a pick-up and ape literally translates as bee (vespa as wasp). Although a pimped up ape might be an idea for the next pattern…….
